ok, my drives are getting WEIRD on me, apparently, my Benq1650 doesn't scan my very few YUDEN000T03 correctly~ very weird, had to use my Sony drive...anyways, this was one of my "test" 16x dvd+r TYs that i no longer have any more of...grrrr...burned @max (16x) on Benq1650 w/ SB & WOPC enabled lemme see if these show up... docTY
ok, here is one on a YUDEN000T02 burned @8x on my benq1650; once again, SB & WOPC enabled... this is just a start...i gotta sort out some of my other scans, as i didn't label many of them correctly, so, i'm not sure which drive burned them...this one is burned on the benq1650 100% sure, as is the one above this post... docTY~
[bold]creaky,[/bold] Yes, CMC has been manufacturing Verbs for quite some tiem. I was told that they do use genuine Azo dye and should manufacture to Mitshubishi's specs and requirements. But yes, there are stories of some lesser quality Verbs shipped from CMC plants. I am just testing DataSafe's DVD-R 16x which in fact uses the same MCC dye. So far the results seem decent, but not as good as genuine MKM/MCC made Verbatims. I should be able to publish the results at http://BitBurners.com pretty soon - I just have to finnish with RiDisc Xtreme 16x +R (RITEK) reviews first.
paiger651: Your benq 1640 scans are nearly the same as mine with the MCC-004 verbs. These are some very sweet discs. The 8x and 12x speeds have fewer errors than the 4x. Beware of burning these MCC-004 at 2.4x. I got way too many crc errors on a few of mine. I haven't tried 16x,mainly 8x for now until I burn a thousand or so.
Creaky: I have not been blessed with Yuden000-T03 yet,but I know they will be very sweet in all my benqs.
Installed my new BenQ drive this evening. [bold]Scans removed as not pertinent to this thread, sorry![/bold] I will be looking forward to testing my first burn with this drive in a day or two. Cheers - Happy BenQ drive owner!
paiger651: The errors on those 2.4x backups of MCC-004 showed up when I tried to re-rip them back to my harddrive. Too many crc errors. This was 4 or 5 discs that I allowed auto shutdown,so I went with a 2.4x burn speed. I never did scan them. If I can't re-rip them later on,they are of no use to me.
Hi, Whilst I understand the burning @ less than the rated speed. I'd suggest that you try @ rated speed & if necessary drop to the next speed setting. If you compare my scans (all done @ 16x [16x media is all I have]) with those done by others. I think you'll agree that mine come out rather well. Obviously there are lots of things that contribute to good burns @ rated speed. PSU/CPU/HDs/Temp as well as configurations & s/w. Only you can know your setup. But why not try being optomistic, throw caution to the wind & go for it. Some of the poorer scans are definately in part due to too slow a burn.
I agree except I'd substitute Most for the word 'Some' ... If you look at the last scan (submitted by paiger651) you will notice an excessive number of PI errors around the 0.5GB area of the burn .. I'd wager that this is due to insufficent burning speed .. The Fuji/Yuden media that's being used will burn better at 12x than at 4x ... and at 8x it will produce better scans than ANY other type od DVD ...
