Seriously the only media I ever burn onto is authentic Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R and occasionally Verbatim 8x DVD-R (never 16x), always burned them at 4x and yet to create a coaster. :)

PS have you tried changing the pot on the laser as I hear that some people need to do this with there GC to read backed-up media.

    Hi Paul 1085,

Q1: Why do you burn at 4X only?
Q2: Can you tell me the brand and model of your DVD burner? And the Firmware Version?
Q3: When running NERO CD/DVD test ... what is the % you get? Also, what is the highest number of PI (for example 3 high, 2 high, Xhihg)?

    Thanks!

Yes, those are commonly used by many of the regulars on this board.

New poster, sorry if anything here is already been said...
I'd been using HP DVD-R's 8X for a whole stack of GC games, never a bad one, unless it was a bad ISO. I recently picked up a 100 pack and didn't notice/pay attention to the speed. They are 16x and I can't get even one of them to work... no matter what speed I burn, they spin up, then after a min or two, they just spin down and sit. Not sure if it's a hardware Bios thing in the GC drive or what, but I'm gonna have to go back and pick up some 8x or less to get anything new loaded.
