i saw the thing called "x-tender" and i was just wondering if that is the best to add more than one hard drive to your xbox to switch back and forth? If so.. is it easy to install? Are there any other types that will allow you to have multiple hard drives, easy to install, or good? Thanks!

If you're not like me who sucks at soldering then it's not a problem, there are only 2 wires to solder. You can go to teamxtender.com and look at the diagram so you'll know where to solder.

You could also mod an IDE cable to accept another device, and then get a Y adapter for the molex (power) connector....and attach a switch between the two hard drives on the 5v and 12v powers. This way your xbox will be using one hdd and then to switch to the other you will have to power down, flip the switch and then power up.

I think what punqewe said is a little advanced for most of us, including me. So I'd guess it's better if you go with the Xtender mod like I did. You can get it at modchipworld.com for about $60.

You can buy IDE cables like that, and the switch is easy to install. It might be hard to find pre-made ide cables that would work, but if you find one....it's gravy.

Any electronics store...even radio shack will do in a pinch.

well.. one last thing.. did you do this to yours, or know someone that did it to theirs? And, if so, how is the hard drive placed in the xbox, or how do you store it?

You can make a harness that hangs below the dvd drive where there's alot of room. Also pal on the xbox-scene forum fit 4 320gig hard drives in an xbox case by moving the dvd drive to the right side and fitting the hard drives sideways two wide, two high. And used the switch method....without a heat problem.
