Just for info, those who want to do a movie only with no Menu can do it using DVD Decrypter and IFOEdit. Rip the movie using DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. Make sure you Demux the streams and do not split the file. Then create an IFOEdit Chapter list.

After that, launch IFOEdit and select "DVD Author=>author new DVD". Add your files, click OK, and after a few minutes, you're done.

I just tested it out and it works no problem. The whole movie is under 3 Gigs using only 1 audio stream. To get a working original menu, you will have to re-author the DVD using a more advanced authoring program.

I was having bad sector problems trying to copy "Bewitched". After updating my AnyDVD and 1Click (while I was at it)to the latest versions, I was able to copy with no problems. Oddly,it required NO compression in 1Click so I was concerned, but the copy plays perfectly all the way through.

I just figured out how to copy this movie using DVD Decrypter, IFOEdit, and VobBlanker, and DVD Shrink. I would assume this will work for any ARccOS protected movie, even those not released yet.

Also following this method will get rid of all the previews and the main movie will need no compression.

First, rip the main movie with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode making sure to skip all the corrupted cells. Also skip all the empty cells. In this case, begin with Cell 23 of chapter 1.

**For other movies, it is easy to tell by looking at the number of cells in each chapter. Select all of the small cells in a chapter. Then try to decrypt them. You will see Decrypter get stuck on a corrupt cell. Make note of it and then cancel the process. Now try to rip starting from the cells after the corrupt cell. If it gets stuck again, take note and repeat until you are finished with all the small cells. This usually takes a minute or so.

Next rip the rest of the movie in File Mode. Make sure you rip the main movie's menu as well.

***Note back up your IFO's before editing them just in case you screw something up.

Now launch IFOEdit and Open VIDEO_TS.IFO. Click and expand "VMGM_PGCI_UT". Now click on the first PGC and scroll down to the post commands. Edit the command that jumps to "Title 33" by right clicking and then selecting "Edit Command". Change the command to "(JumpSS_VTSM) Jump to Titleset Menu" and select "Title nr. 1" (This is the title number), "Title Set 2" (this is the VTS number), "menu Root". This means after the first VMG will play, the movie will jump to the main menu. Make sure you know which Title the menu is associated with. Use the "DVD play" feature to find out.

Save the IFO and then open VTS_02_0.IFO (this is the IFO associated with the main menu). Since we are getting rid of the previews, you need to make the links from other menus not go to the Previews. This step is only for Bewitched and will be different for other DVDs.

I already know that the menus that have to do with the Previews are in VobID 4. You can tell for other movies by Re-ripping the main menu VOB (VTS_0x_0.VOB) and splitting by cell. Then preview the cells. The Preview menu is in Cell 8 and 9.

Click and expand "VTSM_PGCI_UT" and then click on PGC Menu 7. Scroll down to "PGC Program Map" (approx half way down). Now Delete Programs 8 to 14. Program 8 and 9 are the preview menus (cell 8 and 9) and the rest happen to be blank cells (cells 10 to 14). Save the IFO. This will make the link to the previews go to the "Special Features" menu.

Now it is time to correct the VOBs in VTS_02 and at the same time get rid of any audio files you do not need. Close IFOEdit and re-open it. Now Open VTS_02_0.IFO. Now select "VOB Extras=>Strip Streams" Choose a destination and click OK. After a few minutes you will have a rebuilt main movie. Close IFOEdit.

Now Drag and drop the created files into your main movie Folder. Open IFO Edit again and open one of the IFOs and press "Get VTS Sectors". Then Close IFO Edit. This will correct the IFOS.

Now, it is time to launch VobBlanker. Open your movie. Go down the different VTS and BLANK out all of the Previews. They are in VTS (3,4,5,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,& 18). Next Double Click on VIDEO_TS.VOB. This will open a new screen. Click on Language Unit 1 and then blank out cells: 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6. Cell 1 is the Sony logo that starts out the DVD (I guess you can get rid of this too, but I did not). Click OK and then click on Process. After a few minutes you will now have a rebuilt DVD.

Now, Launch IFOEdit again open a IFO and press "Get VTS Sectors". This will correct the IFOs. Quit the Program.

You will notice that this movie is no 4.99 GB. Time to go into DVD Shrink. This movie will not need any compression. Just compress the Extras and the menus and that's it. Normally DVD Shrink will not work on ARccOS protected discs, but IFOEdit corrects the VOB navigation so it will work fine with Shrink.

The whole process not including waiting times for ripping, processing, or compressing is about 10 minutes or so.

This is just to help those of you who do not have AnyDVD or who do not want to wait for programs to get updated for future releases. AnyDVD or an updated DVDFab is much easier, but sometimes it takes a week for these programs to get updated. Also, this is much faster and easier than manually re-authoring a movie using an authoring program.

AnyDVD and DVDFab can both copy this movie. Make sure DVDFab is updated.

I still have the modified IFOs from when I ripped the movie. Perhaps I can send them to you along with all the blanked stuff. I will also tell you exactly how to rip it with DVD Decrypter and it should work.

If you want to go that route, just note that anything related to previews will not work, so do not try to access any previews or it will lock the DVD Player or just ignore your command and play the movie.

If you want the IFOs, send me a PM (private message) with your e-mail.

Just did Bewitched with DVD Shrink in reauthor mode and DVD43 running the background - no problems and no compression required.

On a PIII 800 with 256RAM it took 21 minutes to encode and 13 minutes to burn using Nero at 4X

Think the trick is to use re-author mode to bypass all the extra crap they try to load on the full DVD.

    @JaguarGod,

FYI, I doubt you'll ever have to "wait" for AnyDVD to be updated. In the past, AnyDVD has provided "updates" for problems BEFORE the encryption variation ever reaches the marketplace. So far, their record has been outstanding to say the very least. Their slowest reaction has allowed a DVD just a single day in the sunshine before it was disassembled for all who had the program. Without a doubt, this program is the best value available for $39.99.

It is my opinion that, with the laws MPAA has been able to muscle around, at sometime, in the Ooohh, too near future AnyDVD may be forced from business. BUT, until that time comes, I'll recommend AnyDVD for any who wish to keep up with the "Big boys".

FYI, this past January 18th, Sony was about to release it's highly touted Settec ALPHA-DVD, AnyDVD released it's "update" to break this "Super encryption" a full 2 days BEFORE Sony's first disc hit the street. Now that's what I call "Timely".

    Cheers,

    Pete

^^^You misread my post a bit. I said that did not want to wait for Programs, not necessarily AnyDVD. I was referring more for DVDFab, which does not update like AnyDVD. S,o if someone has to do it in a day or 2 and AnyDVD is not an option and DVDFab does not work for some reason, then there is always an alternative option.

I totally agree about AnyDVd being a great program, just someone should not be forced to buy it for only doing a few bad Sony movies. Perhaps now that Ripguard is finally out it may be better, but who knows, maybe the guide I posted works for ripguard as well.

I would like it if there were more than 1 possiblity to copy movies, especially one using programs that are not being updated any longer. This means that even if something happend to AnyDVD, everyone is not forced to wait for a new program or for a PSL to be posted somewhere.

    Ditto there ireland,

    I didn't have that update either ~

    JG,

The "long way" will never go out of style either. I too like more than 1 way to get to my movie.

May we always have a method to continue too, "Burn on . . . "
