OK, I'm a rookie, before you make fun of me. I burn dvd's for my kids to watch in a portable player (little 7" job from wal-mart). When I play a storebought widescreen dvd, it fills out the screen just fine. I use dvddecrypter and dvdshrink with nero. After I make a back-up, it no longer fills out the screen, now there are "black bars". Can anyone tell me how to make the bars disappear from my back-up? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen? B/c those usually mean that it's a widescreen, they will look terrific in a big screen TV but I can understand why you might not want them on a 7" screen.

Here is what a fullscreen looks like

And this is what a widescreen would look like

Notice how the wide screen gives you about a half a foot worth of side.

For instance, today I had batman begins. I played the actual dvd and there were no bars. It completely filled the 7" widescreen. Then I burned that same dvd and played the back-up and there were now black bars across the top and bottom. The movie is all there but it's just smaller now.

2 movies in a row doesn't sound like a burn prob. A player setting maybe? And is it actually smaller? Are the sides getting cut off?
