Black n Crimson DS Lite?

Can anyone confirm that the flash carts (DS simply, R4, etc...) work with this newest version of the DS? I heard rumors about lock out protection. I want to make sure my DS Simply will work ok if I buy the black n crimson. thanks

 

My friend got one last week, his M3 Simply works fine.

are there really a new firmware in the new ds lites? i would have never thought about that.

 

I don't think there is, I'd never heard about it until now.

for those that have the new black n crimson unit. I have a test for you.

look at your serial number. Tell me if there is a space before the last digit. If you dont have a space (all letters and digits together) turn your ds on and look at the screen from the bottom up. Tell me what color your screen is.

Those with the space if any...do the same test. Tell me your color.

I heard.....those w/o the space in the serial number have a new screen. But the screen has a tint to it and is not clear like before. Tell me your results.

 

i can confirm that the R4 does NOT work on a crimson/red and black ds

i just bought one for my girlfriend today and tried my R4 with it, and nothing, doesn't even see the cartridge in the slot

we were able to use my brother's cyclo evolution in it no problem though. and yup, tested the R4 in my ds afterwards, worked perfectly fine

we also tried updating the firmware of the R4 to 1.11 and didn't make a difference

has anyone found a workaround? i was hoping to buy the R4 for my girlfriend but i'll buy the cyclo if i have to, they're just back ordered as i write this

 

id like to argue against it because just today my cousin came over with the crimson red lite and he has his own r4! they work just fine and everything. i dont know what you guys are talking about, they work fine..

 

i'll try posting a movie if you want, but it's really weird, and frustrating

 

Yup, R4 works perfect on my C/B.

Works like a damn charm in fact. Not trying to rub it in or anything.

 

i just dunno why, doesn't make sense to me.

the ds doesn't even c the r4 at all...

 

try narrowing it down to what doesn't work. try the r4 with other ds' if possible, and try other ds game cartridges on it, and check if its not the ds slot 1 problem.

yea, i'm using it in my black ds lite, i was going to buy a crimson and black for myself and use my current but this changed everything.

 

hmmm i dont what is wrong but the r4 site says that it works with all ds's

well juno the version for r4 came out like 7/30/07 if u look on the bottom, but if you check when the black and crimson lite came out, it came out later. so there was a possibility it might have not worked. =P but we all know it works now since there are people who have the crimson and obviously show that it works.

 

ha, i didnt see that, good catch and thats a good thing it works cuz i got a C/B and my r4 comes i wednesday

hmm...it also says every revision out to come...so if it didnt work, then you could sue for false advertisement

worse comes to worst, i'll get her an evo, but would still prefer the r4

i messaged the r4 team today, we'll see if they respond at all
