Are you seriously backing up to BD-R?

Can I ask... Why?! Is it purely for experimental purposes? Aren't the discs almost the same as the original movie? Unless... You found somewhere cheaper?

But... Since you have done it. How did it go? Is playback smooth on the movies that did work? Were loading times the same? Etc... ?

Anyways, I found the best way is to strip out the streams, recode the video stream, remux the original Dolby or DTS stream into a m2ts container with the recoded video file (with a target of about 8gb) and burn it onto a DVD9.

I know you will lose some quality, that is a given but with the right encoding the quality will remain exceptionally high.

In Australia I can get DVD+R DL discs (DVD9) for $1 each, BD-R's are about $30 each. Can I justify keeping that little bit of extra quality for paying 30 times more... Well, my answer is no. I couldn't really care too much for extras either. I've never really used them on regular DVD's and I don't think I will start now.

By the way what application/s are you using to rip the movies? I've used Blu-ray Disc Ripper which has region code removal.

We're playing with BD-R media.. 50&25GB. No loss of quality and a complete back up of the original.

I purchase a lot of BDMV's from the states which are Region A.. I Remove the Region encoding to enable me to watch the movie on a Region B player.

You keep asking this question everywhere..

People use Nero simply because it works and works well, so go and buy it.

You just answered your own question. The PS3 will play region free BDMV'S, however it will only play Region B BDMV's if you have a UK PS3.

The Region coding is on the disk.

Yep gamename got it right plus posting email addresses are also against the rules.
Use the pm function instead as gamename suggested.

Sorry guys, I didn't know it was against policy to post email addresses. I've just had bad experiences with people not recognizing that they have a new PM.
