    Use FlashFXP on your pc.

Go into your xbox's settings, and find it's IP address, mine is 192.168.1.13, the username and password, by default, is xbox and xbox.

Connect with FlashFXP, and just drag and drop the files to their appropriate folders.

Have fun, and welcome to AD forums!

Make sure that your router's firewall isn't interfering with that port. I use a linksys router as well. I have been able to utilize flashfxp to connect my pc to my xbox via my router, both wired and wireless, clearly the wired performance is much better, but it works both ways nonetheless.

What software are you trying to use, and have you verified that you are using it right? My concern here is that if it is this hard for you to connect the two, are you going to know where everything goes? Please don't take that as an insult, it's not meant as a mean statement, it is simply a natural concern I have that you may not even know how to transfer files, etc, once you've gotten it connected.
