Booktyping? DVD-ROM?

    The utilitys are not a firmware upgrade and should not damage your drive in any way. I believe your drive is new enough that it will store the setting in the eeprom instead of volatile memory and therefor won't revert back to dvd+r after reboot unless you change it. Booktyping dvd-rom can not hurt but only help. You can use dvd identifier to verify that the dvd+r's are booktyped dvd-rom after they are burned. Here's a link. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ You can always change the booktype back to dvd+r and delete the utility if you want.

    i have a pioneer dvr-509 and wish to know where i can get this firmware from so i can be able to booktype to dvd-rom

    any help will be appreciated, thanks!

    If you buy the newest Sony DVD burner.. It comes with Nero and you can go into NERO and change the settings so it will default any R+ media you put ino the tray into a dvdrom...No seperate software needed.. Change the setting once and all DVR+R media will change into DVDROM.. It is very sweet!
