Im trying to find out if it is possible to setup my comp with all my usual progs and updates and then make a recovery disk which is bootable even onto a blank hard drive. If this is possible what programe should i use?

Google "Slipstreaming XP" with the quotation marks.

Use a program that ghosts your PC, there are few opensource but there are quite a few retail like Norton.

If you take the time to slipstream your XP install along with SP2, updates (from another computer) and your favorite programs, you will be set. Try to get the updates from another computer so your Virgin XP install has absolutely no contact with the Internet. Once you get the perfect install, burn a few DVDs & see if it will install ok.
