Anyone got the frequencies for Sly 1,2 & 3 handy for the St@rv1ew Da B0x on Virgin? I have the rest of the Sly channels, just those one's not coming up.

Bearonimo, I suggest you do a factory reset as malci said ealier. this should help you pick up any 'loose' channels. A mate recently lost MUTTV - some manc footie channel... - and we spent ages trying to do autoscan and manual scan to load the channel up, but neither method would work to restore the channel.


We waited until today and did a factory reset and it picked up MUTTV and all of his Sly channels too!


It's a pain in the rectum for me (I have an original SV box and am) having to delete and 'hide' some of the obscure channels, but it meant that everything was easy enough to update in one hit. A last resort found a (half) decent solution.

I should be able to reorganise my channels easy enough using SVCE proggie and my mate is laughing cos he has an SV3 The Box 'Super' and he's good to go! Barsteward!

 

Alba1314 thanks for the advice but I'm afraid to do a factory reset because I've no way of putting my saved channel dump back on as I got rid of my old PC and got a laptop WITHOUT a Com port! I know, stupid idea!!! So all I really need is the frequencies off a st@rv1iew b0x for Sly 1, 2 and 3! I have the rest no problem.

Has anyone found the V*rg*n Security Channel after rescanning for the new Sly Channels.

There's a message that says you're viewing through an illegal box and if you want anymore info to call the number listed. Made my heart flutter for a second, but I guess its just a channel they have set up, knowing that Eurovox and Starview etc.. pick up every channel going! Well thats what I'm hoping anyway!

 

Ive just had a look for my s@y channels and found that i get s@y 1, s@ky arts etc but cant get s@y 2 and 3. This is because these channels have the same prog numbers on my starview 3 as virgin and virgin+1. They have different frequencies but it seems that the virgin channels get priority. The only way i can view them is by going into channel edit. I know you can change the channel names in channel edit but is there any way i can change the channel number?

You need to set them up in Add Favorites, Menu, Channels, Add Favorites, pin 0000, find the channel then categorise it by selecting the relevent category, Pop for red, entertainment for blue and so on. once selected save and exit then you will find it under what you set it to.

 

Thanks for that. I knew how to put things into favourites etc but with the starview 3 having a presorting application, i was hoping i could adjust the channel number. Obviously thats not the case but im sure i will survive by having to press a few extra buttons!!! Cheers

Basically I am a technophobe, I am all ready to download the firmware at long last, now the question is should I do that first prior to doing a new scan, is doing a new scan the only way of getting the Sky channels? can you do a new scan and keep the menus I have. If I have to I will do a new scan, Oh another problem I have just come accross is that I cant get into the menu now!!!!!!!!!!!! I put the code in and nothing, stays there for ages, its the correct code, an ideas

 

hi all, i down a factory default, and re scan'd hopin to pick up sly 1 etc.. in the process i've lost a few of the movie channels and didnt manage to pick up sly1... any guideline as to wha to try now???

JDevlin, sounds like you might have a bad flash... See Celtic71's post over at link forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/663923#4033223 - this should help you. It has come in useful once or twice for me in the past. A suggestion: Print out a hard-copy, if you can and keep it near your PC or box. That way, it's always to hand should you encounter the same problem again?? Sometimes, trying to find a link again can be a Royal pain in the @ss - especially if it's been a while since you last used it?!

lov3ly, it would be helpful if you could say which version 8ox you're using and which firmware version?!

Try another factory reset, just in case there's a few 'loose' channel 'stragglers' that your scan has not picked up. This happened to a friend recently and, pain though it is having to do the rescan, it cured the problem for him. Not only did he pick up his Sly channels, but he picked up a couple of sports channels that he was missing too!

JDevlin - Oops! I forgot to mention - if you are going to do a firmware update, then "Yes", do this before you do your scan.

I suggest you do a factory reset if you can first and then flash the latest firmware - then do a scan. You should pick up all of your channels that way. If you can't do a scan, then you may need to follow the link I posted for bad flash. It will tell you how to boot up your 8ox to be able to load the correct firmware and be aware it can take a couple or more attempts to boot the 8ox... Touch wood, the few times I've had to use celtic71's advice, I have been successful on each first attempt. You might be as lucky as me - if not persevere! And remember - Patience is a virtue - as well as a card game!!! ;-p

Hi I saw about them channels mentioned sly 1 2 3 and sports news and sly news.

as i was doing an update and going through the favourites, i came across a channel called i think "subscription fra", i looked at it and it said "this box u r using is illegal" , has anyone else seen this? its under all channels, you'll see it.

Yeah, as Malci said, it's an old one and pity the fool (me) who forgot about it when setting up two 8oxes recently for mates who did not know about it!

I had let slip to one of the lads [during conversation] about the message appearing on my 8ox BEFORE I set their 8oxes up for them - Oh, the fun I have missed out on, because "panic" is their middle names! And they're not even related!!! The old addage

was truly forgotten - I could've milked the two of them for weeks!...

I'm off to sulk now...

 

what channel is sly bocks office on now? i went to it today see if they had hatton previews or wrestling previews, and it came up with the red screen saying about the new sly channels available from nov 13th
