Its not a drive error or memory problem. I had the same problem using 1CLICKDVDPRO and ANYDVD.Both latest versions, and I have 1gb of ram. Brothers Grimm is loaded with just about every protection..at least according to anydvd. I do own clonedvd2 just for problems like this and with anydvd there was no problem. Just a problem with 1clickdvdpro.
Well, I have said it before & I'll say it again: CloneDVD 2 & AnyDVD can back-up any commercial DVD out there at this time. Any of them. This is The Best Combination going! Slysoft Rules!
How many people are using laptops? I am having the same problem with Brothers Grimm. I have a laptop and not only does shrink run out of memory but so does nero. I have tried recently anydvd with nero and got 39% through the burn before it ran out of memory. I know it has something to do with laptop!! I think...
Well I hate to sound like everyone else but anydvd and clonedvd2 ripped a perfect copy. I won't use any other program from now on.
I have tried to backup my copy of Brothers Grimm and not having any luck. I would like to try VOB Blanker, but how do you know what to blank out in this movie and in the future is there anything specific that I should look for to blank out in other DVDs I buy? Alkohol showed a great visual on how to blank out stuff in Sky High, but using that example in this movie, it is not the same. So I just need a little help understanding VOB Blanker. Thank You.
i have the exact same issues as you do rw2516, i also have tried fabdecrpter, which did work, but the resulting folder will not work in any program i have, decrypter, shrink, clonedvd2, nero recode2, ratdvd. i did manage to get an iso with folder2iso, but once again the iso proved useless, as it has with more than a few movies, so i wouldnt reccomend folder2iso to anyone.the interesting thing is i also have only 512 mb memory, so this may be some kind of block to prevent ppl with low memory from backing up their dvds. i am upgrading my memeory to over gig soon tho, i will post my findings then, to see if there are any changes.
I hate to say this, but sometimes new isn't necessarily better. I had the same problem with DVD Decrypter. I didn't bother with any of All-in-ones (basically the only one I use of those is DVD Shrink, anyway), but tried my favourite ripper (especially for just stream ripping video and audio) - SmartRipper 2.41. Had no problems backing up the DVD to harddrive. In a nutshell: DVD Decrypter didn't work, SmartRipper did. Now I have the movie on drive so I can strip out all the junk - ESPECIALLY the wonderful must-see commercial they've put on the dvd. -pallie: As for VobBlanker - great and easy little program. It only blanks program chains, though, so it's tough to blank out individual Cells (although I'm no expert). There are great tutorials on how to use it on this forum and others. Each DVD is a little bit different, so it's difficult to have a hard and fast rule on what to blank and what to keep. If you have the time, you might want to rip (backup) the DVD to hard drive (in file mode) and then go through each VOB with Vobrator - view each cell - making note of everything on a piece of paper. Vobrator's preview isn't the most stable (or quickest), so using something like DVD2AVI might be more suitable. Then you will know which VOBs contain which cells and you can decide from there what you want to keep and what to blank. Personally for Brothers Grimm, I think I'll just keep the movie and make a backup of it (which means for me ripping the video and audio streams out and authoring a new dvd with a quickie menu). It's still going to take a DVD-9 unless I decide to shrink it later to DVD-5, but this is a movie that I would like to keep the quality at the original commercial value.
