building a media center pc need help

i want to build media center pc for use on my 27 inch tv for the following reasons to use different format dvds and to do pvr among other things such as games from the confert of my couch any help with hard ware would be greatly appericiated thanks guy

 

here's a good reference for HTPC's. For what you want to do all you need is a pc, dvd drive, and a video card with tv-out, most low-end cards have tv-out
