That's not true. I had tested with my Toshiba SD-R5272 and got between 0-30 scores and sometimes not finishing. I freaked and bought a BenQ DW1655 to see if my results were acurate. They weren't, my BenQ was giving me 94-98 scores on the same discs that I burned with the Toshiba and the Toshiba Nero Cd/DVD speed was telling me were scores of less than 30.
I said it's been MY experience that drives that don't work with CD/DVD speed Quality Test generally don't work. Your experiences may be totaly different. My drives either work good with it or not at all. Some drives may not read as well and get higher PIF results. This is only a test of how a particular drive can read a particular DVD. Lite-On and BenQ are pretty good at reading most DVDs. Actually, in my case the Light-On is the better reader and the BenQ is the better burner. My test results are very similar with Nero CD Speed and DVD Info Pro as far as PIE and PIF. I can use my Pioneer to scan with using DVD Info Pro, but the results are usually atrocious. It's also my best reader. DVD Info Pro uses some sort of work around to get it to show PIE and POE. It will read discs that my other burners won't, but it sure won't scan very well. Dave
Max Thanks for the speedy reply - after many hrs over several days and a whole lot of frustration and just short of reformatting, I finally got it fixed. I'd done everything I could think of and checked many suggestions I'd found in threads including uninstall/reinstall nero. It turned out that InCD was causing the conflict with Nero 6, but only when burning lightscribe labels. I uninstalled InCD, and AnyDVD which would no longer run after removing InCD, then reinstalled Anydvd and all is working now. Strange, but it worked. With aspi - it looks like xp doesn't have it, though it still shows an aspi under nero and everything is working. With the nero log - all files are checked visible but cannot find a folder through ie for the logs for nero 6. When I tried to copy/paste from the error log when the error occured xp(?) wouldn't allow me to copy/paste - grrrr. To add to the frustration, nero had everything hanging up due to the error, I couldn't even take a screen shot of it lol. Maybe due to the hanging I couldn't copy/paste??? I'm grateful for all the helpful info here - otherwise I wouldn't have been able to finally get it sorted out.
blubyu, glad to see you got things worked out. If you are still looking for your nero logs check here: I had the same problem with InCd. Funny thing is I believe it's on several of my oem nero software that I got with my burners. forkndave - I took the above literally. If you meant generally, than I would have to agree. I just didn't want dbuchanan to think those scans are definitely acurate. Those are pretty bad scans for good quality media. If the discs play in the dvd player, chances are the scan aren't accurate. Just my opinion.
I'm not trying to start anything, but I've had scans much worse than those that would play fine. I'll agree that is a bad scan for a mij Maxell. Ritek scans haven't all been that great for me. They are usually better than that, however. I won't use Ritek because of longevity problems that I've had with the printable ones. I used to think they were great. I've found that the only discs that I can really count on are mij Maxell, TY, Verbatim and for some reason I've had good luck with Prodisc although I realize that not everyone else has. Generally, if I have a quality score of less than 90 I'll dump the disc because I know it's not going to improve with the passage of time. If you want to see bad scans I have a lot of them I can show you mostly with Ritek printable burns 6 months or more old. Dave
Max, thx for the "Creaky" tip on finding the nero log. With that, I was able to find it - damn xp and their "hide extensions for known folder types" lol Hopefully I won't every need it again. ... Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 9:35:32 AM Nero Version: 6.6.0.15 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 15d (Nero Express) You're right InCD comes packaged with Nero - at least w/Nero 6. That's what I found odd.
