    Hi Dan,
First, edit your post because you have your Nero registration number showing. It's the 1A23- number at the top of the log file. The edit post icon is next to the "report an ofensive Post" on the orange bar.

I would do this. Get the newest version of Nero 6, yours is seriously out of date.

    http://nero.com/us/nero-up.php

I did notice your DMA is off on your CD drive but that shouldn't be a problem here.

Your log looks odd to me because I see a lot of "image recorder" stuff here, there is no mention of your Pioneer during the actual burn process.

I think a reinstall of Nero will help out. Make sure you set your burner as the target. Also could you explain exactly how you are using the program, IE are you using StartSmart or some other feature?

    Thanks Fasfrank,

I followed your advice and upgraded my version of nero, and still have the exact same problem.
I start nero burning rom using the start button choosing it from the selection under nero suite. After the program starts I choose copy disc. The image file is going to copy to a temp file, in this case the source drive is also my dvd burner. I click copy and it does begin to copy. At exactly 99% I get an error "read failed", and then another error "burn process failed".

    Any suggestions?

Thank You again in advance. Here's another copy of the log.

You might want to remove InCD. packet writing apps have a tendency to booger up the burn process :)

You are going to need to go back to Nero and get their InCD removal tool. It causes problems and if you don't need it you should use the tool to remove it. You can reinstall it after you get your burn problem figured out.

Why are you not using Shrink with Nero to Auto burn your discs? This is a lot easier than having to open Nero and set up the burn. Shrink can do it for you.

You can do it manually though.....

I'm gonna give you a little guide to use Nero a bit differently:

First open the program like you normally do. Burning ROM should open with the "Copy Disc" wizard on top.

Close the wizard, select File and then select New.

    The New Compilation window opens.

To the left you can see a vertical row of icons. Select DVD if it says CD from the top menu and then select the third icon down, DVD-Video.

Normally all the tabs are OK just the way they are but lets go over them:

    Info, should be OK.

ISO, Should have File name length set to Max of 11=8+3 [ISO level 1], Character Set should be ISO 9660. Leave the rest of the blocks unchecked.

Label, you can put whatever you like, I leave it all blank or at the default settings.

    Dates, Same as Label.

Misc., both blocks checked and 64kb in the window.

Burn, self explanatory. You can see where to set the program for a simulation, Adjust the write speed and other stuff.

All of this is assuming you have ripped your disc with Shrink and now have a movie in a folder on your hard drive.

The next step is to select New. Its a button located at the top right of the window.

Make sure your recorder is listed in the upper right scroll box.

At the far left you will see a disc icon with the word NEW next to it. Below that, find the small red VIDEO_TS folder and click on it. You will see it open and the folder icons to the right will vanish.

I assume you know how to browse for things so use the File Browser, the right middle window, to find your movie and the VIDEO_TS folder. left click the folder and the contents should now appear in the window at the far right.

Move your cursor over these files and RIGHT click them. A menu appears. Select "Select All". The files turn blue. Right click them again and from the menu, select "Copy to Compilation". All the files appear in the middle left window.

Put a blank disc in the Recorder that is listed in the scroll box.

Give it a few seconds and select the burn icon at the top. Its the match on fire with the disc.

The burn tab appears again, so just verify your settings and you are ready. Select "Burn" to start the burn process.

This is how I use Nero. Only takes a few seconds to set up, most of the stuff is set correctly as default.

Let me know what you think,
    Frank

The way i over came the problem of burn fail was to run Clone DVD2 to burn the dvd's. In other words, i used shrink Dvd to encode the disc as i wanted it to be then used Clone Dvd2 to burn the dvd.
It sucks BUT for me it HAS worked! LOL
    Any ideas anyone?

Switching to a different program is always an option. I look at this way though. If I had a problem with my car not starting, and I asked for advice on how to fix it and instead of repair procedures, I was told to buy another car. I would not go there for advice again. That is a bit extreme, I know. We are dealing with software here, not autos.

What would you tell the person who switched programs if they had problems with the new program, switch again?

The way I see it is that if a person buys a program then it should work. I can't ask a person to throw away a program unless it absolutely cannot work. There are thousands of people using Nero 6 without problems. The program is sound. If it does not work then in most cases it is a fault with the software/hardware platform it is installed on, an improper or corrupted installation or operator error.
