Hi madlane Here's some suggestions: Direct burning: true Turn off burn at once. Let Nero create and store the files temporarily on the hard drive 1st - it will then start the burn process and when finished delete these files. CdRomPeripheral : Memorex DVD-ROM 16X v2 atapi Port 5 ID 1 DMA: Off Turn this drive's dma back on. Here's a guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS & File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS' Roxio and Nero don't always play well together esp. when Nero's InCD is installed too. Uninstall Roxio and InCD and run the clean tools for each: http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml Give those a go and let us know.

Ok - it's failing in the transcoding stage - An unknown error occurred in the VOB encoder.. Doesn't like one or more of the files. Are you running something like AnyDVD in the background or if these files are ripped to your hard drive what did you use to rip them? Which movie is it? Another option is to use RipItMe. All free.
yea im useing dvd43 the movie is american dreamz its kinda a new movie yesterday I burned a movie and it worked fine theres this one part of the movie when the burn starts its a little running man and I have had movies mess up there before should I try to just burn another and buy this movie or try again thanx
I also have been having problems with a burn process failed message when trying to burn a DVD. I have Nero 7 and a Matshita UJ-840D drive on an HP zd8000 laptop. I am using Memorex double layer DVD+R media. I have sucessfully ripped and burned several DVD's using DVD Shrink and have had no problems up until now. My problems began when I decided to capture some video from a VHS tape onto my computer and then burn it to a DVD (because this film is not available commercially on DVD). I purchased an adaptor device made by Pinnacle (RCA a/v plugs on one end and USB on the other)and made the mistake of installing the Pinnacle capture software to try and do this instead of just using my existing NERO. Well, I was never able to burn using Pinnacle and deleted it from my computer. I then tried to burn the DVD using NERO VISION 4 and it would run through the entire process and then at the very end would display an error message: could not perform end of disc-at-once also unspecified recorder error and burn process failed at 2.4x (3,324 kb/s). I contacted tech support at NERO and their suggestions were: 1. Try different media and slower write speeds. Since I've always had success before with these discs I wouldn't think it was this. The write speed I used was 2.4x. Isn't that considered slow? Or is it possible to set it slower? 2. Upgrade firmware on your recorder. I've searched the net and apparently there isn't firmware upgrades for this particular writer. 3. Driver conflicts from other recording software. I've uninstalled the dreaded Pinnacle software and even used the Roxio zapper because I think I also had some Sonic software on there which I also uninstalled. I also used the cleantools feature on NERO. 4. Make sure I have the latest NERO software installed...which I do. Now the interesting thing about all this is even though I get the error messages, I am able to play the first half of the movie. It appears that it records just fine on the first layer but when it comes time to jump to the second layer that is where the failure occurs. Anyway, I will post just the last part of the burn error log. If it's helpful to see more let me know. I hope someone has an idea of how to fix this problem....I'm at my wit's end and have burned nothing but shiny coasters. @madlane Yep the running boy/man is what's making this fail. On this movie it's a larger file - it just plays over and over again for like 2 mins. Use RipIt4Me (link above) on this one. Or rip 1st to your hard drive w/ DVDFab Decrypter. Then open those files in Recode. Either one will take care of the annoying running boy and you can now burn the movie. @bangzoom I have the same drive in an HP laptop too. No firmware updates that I've ever found. Not a good drive at all - okay maybe - but dual layer is one I won't burn on it. Could be due to the media - the Memorex you are using were made by Ritek. Better dual media would be Verbatim but I'm still not really sure that would solve this problem. May just be the drive itself. Another suggestion would be to have Nero Vision save to a hard drive folder instead then use Recode or Shrink to fit it on a single layer disc.

No problemo bangzoom I'm not very fond of the drive myself - it has it's share of problems unfortunately. I no longer use 16x media on it either. Give the single layer and go and keep us posted!
