I'm using my intel iMac's internal dvd burner wich works fine. I have burned about 10 discs by now and never got a coaster. Be sure to use Verbatim dl dvd+r though. If you want to get your xbox modded (like I did) you won't be able to use iBurn360 as you need to patch your iso file first. This is a very simple task but it can only be done in Windows..

i dont know mac you got. most likely you will need to get an external DL burner.
you cannot flash a 360 using mac. :(

final note. ALWAYS use verbatims for discs. seriously I went through two different packs of cheap discs and have 16 coasters. my first verbatim burned 1st time perfect.
no problems at all with verbs (at 2.4x speed)

give me your email address and i will send you a pdf guide.
you can only do this with pc hardeware though as you need to hook up a sata and other stuff that just makes it unfeasable on mac.

you cannot flash with a mac. period. normally I would personally see that as a challenge to do it but if you look at the PDF, you need to actually open the PC and use a SATA to hook up the HD to flash it.
    It just will not happen.

I know a mate that sells them pre-flashed (in London) but I don't know where you live.

Think of all the money you will save on back-ups - is it worth buying a cheap PC to do the flashing? You can get them for about £399 now. Get some mates to chip in too?

I would really recommend flashing vs modding. You can always load the old firmware back on, it is much harder to uninstall a mod chip.

    HI,
I had my original xbox flashed, but not quite sure how this works for the 360. Can you play backups on Live in without being detected with flashing. I, also, only have a Mac.
PowerPC G4 MDD. Haven't bought a 360 yet but would like an Elite, is it possible with that model, and does the original operated system stay on the machine, or is there even a new OS that boots the backup? -- which is what it was like on my orig. xbox.
And is iburn360 the only way to burn the 360 .iso, can't you just use toast and burn the .iso that way? Sorry lot's of Q's. And probably still have more.....
    Thanks.

Hey jibbo, You cant use toast or similar to burn in macos as 360 game discs have a layer brake in a very specific place which isnt supported in any macos apps. Iburn360 is based on some linux tools that allow you to burn the image with the correct layer break.

The firmware hack is nothing like the xbox1 mods of the past as all the replacement firmware does is make the dvd drive think that the copy is actually an original therefore the system also thinks its original. You will need a pc to flash your 360 dvd drive as its not possible on a mac.

And the system(dashboard) on the 360 is untouched. Also it is never truly safe on live with backup games as I found out with the first wave of bans, the firmware has been updated and now lots of people are on live with backups but it a matter of time before M$ find a way to detect them again.

I think the launch of Halo 3 will be a good time for the bans ;)

    Hope that helps ;)

i should be working so just quick 1 (CAPS inserted below - i'm not shouting at you lol:

    HI,
I had my original xbox flashed, but not quite sure how this works for the 360. Can you play backups on Live in without being detected with flashing.
YES, BUT THEY NEED TO BE STEALTH PATCHED OR IT IS ALMOST INSTANT BAN NOWADAYS.
ALSO YOU NEED TO ACCEPT THAT THE ONLY WAY TO NEVER GET BANNED FROM LIVE IS NOT PLAY WITH A MODDED CONSOLE AND BACKUPS :-D

I, also, only have a Mac.
    ME TOO - CONGRATS

PowerPC G4 MDD. Haven't bought a 360 yet but would like an Elite, is it possible with that model, and does the original operated system stay on the machine, or is there even a new OS that boots the backup?
ELITE LOOKS NICE. YES YOU CAN DO IT WITH ELITE. YOU ARE CHANGNING THE BIOS

-- which is what it was like on my orig. xbox.
And is iburn360 the only way to burn the 360 .iso,
NO I USE FUSION TO RUN A PC ON MY MAC THEN USE CLONE CD - WORKED 100% OF TIME WHEN USING VERBATIMS.

can't you just use toast and burn the .iso that way?
NO COZ TOAST WONT LET YOU SET THE LAYER BREAK. I TRIED EVERY OPTION AND SO HAVE OTHERS. TOAST IS GOOD BUT NOT FOR THIS.

Sorry lot's of Q's. And probably still have more.....
    NP. ASK AWAY.

    Thanks
    WELCOME :-D

yeah 'my friend' does sell them pre-flashed but I live in London. It would not make sense for you at all right now as the £ vs $ is crazy at 2:1. So machines I sell for £350 would be the same as $700 excl. shipping.
Sorry mate, I personally wish I lived back in the States (used to live in CO) but for now I am stuck here. I also do Wii's. And can get any back-ups but it doesn't count for much with you being 2,000 miles away.

    what I done:
Found out how many people were interested in having a flashed 360.
    Researched the crap outta it.
Charged everyone and said it would be 1-2 weeks.
Went and bought a PC and started working on my Xbox360.
When it worked, I then went and bought everyone else's 360s.
I worked on them under a mate's alias - so then I was an innocent middleman and did not have mates asking for discount etc.

It worked really well. I got a deal on buying 10 machines and with my markup paid off the PC, my 360 and made money in no time.

I have now sold off the rig to a Chinese mate of mine, as too many people were asking, people I didn't know and I just felt I was pushing my luck.

moral of my story is that if you have some mates who want a flashed 360, it is an easy way in for you. Flashing the machine is a bit of a pain in the ass the first time but it gets much easier and faster and there is no complicated soldering, etc.
If you want, I have a really good tutorial for explaining how to flash it via PC rig.

failing that, I knew a guy in FLA that was flashing too. I don't know if he still is - you want me to ask?
Also you should try private game trackers - where do you get your games? A closed game community is a great place to get leads and advice. Through mine I got a link to high quality verbatims on deal which equalled under $1 each!

Let me know if you need anything else Josh.

    stayin Durty.
