hey guys. please help if you can. I am trying to burn a DVD movie using nero. i followed the instructions implicitly, but the burned DVD will play only on my computer and not on my standalone DVD player. I have no idea why not as i have burned DVDs before and they've worked.
hi. nope, i'm using the same stuff. when i stick it in the dvd player, it scrolls "cannot read"..? never had that before...grrr, so frustrating.
When you say same stuff do you mean the same brand? If so what is the brand? or is it from the same spindle/package as others that worked previously?
Did you burn it as a data dvd? or under dvd video in nero.I have burned a dvd that would play only on a computer and not on a player, because I burned with roxio 6 as a data dvd. That was a mistake.Try adding the files to the Video_ts file and none in the Audio_ts in the dvd video option of nero and then try it on your player.
@schmankey - post the last section of your Nero log, minus your serial number which usually begine with 1A21. Log should be in "c:\Program Files\ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log" or similar..
ok...first thing, i'm using sony brand DVD+R (as i've always used and has worked in the past), and its from the same spindle that i've used previously. And yes, i burned it as a DVD video using Nero as i've done before (and i made sure that this file works on a friend's computer--there's no problem with the video file) and here is the cropped out session from my last nero attempt (THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE TRYING TO HELP FIGURE THIS OUT FOR ME): Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.8 (Nero Express) Recorder: <_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A> Version: 2.36 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A>Version: 2.36 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : TOSHIBA MK6025GAS atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A D: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 70254592 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 478MB (489904kB) Free physical memory: 92MB (95204kB) Memory in use : 80 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 4.4.2005 UDF/ISO compilation 8:10:48 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 8:10:48 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 8:10:48 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6172 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 8:10:48 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 8:10:49 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 8:10:49 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A running 8:10:49 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 8:10:49 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 8:10:49 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3153 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 8:10:49 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 259 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 1840223 (408:56.23, 3594MB) 8:10:49 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 271 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 8:10:49 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2316 Recorder: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A, Media type: DVD+RW Disc Manufacturer ID: SONY, Media Type ID: S11, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 1 8:10:49 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 433 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 8:10:49 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 830 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 1840224 (1840224) = #1840224/408:56.24 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 1840224 blocks [_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 8:10:49 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1043 Prepare recorder [_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6450A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; all i've found on your media is and all i can think off is your standalone is a tad picky, i know you can book type '+' discs, liteon drives can anyways.. PS Something to keep an eye on - your memory usage, you're not leaving yourself much room to manoeuvre there - can't see if your firmware is outdated or not, can't seem to find your drive in a google search [bold]EDIT-[/bold] - hang on i missed the obvious - it's a RW disc. I know my own standalones won't play the few RW discs i have.. (i only use -R)
hey...you guys are so thorough (thanks), does it make a difference that i have been able to burn onto an rw before and it worked fine, and now when i try it, it doesn't work?
schmankey, If you're rewriting to the same dvd+rw, try doing a full erase on it prior to burning. If I read right, you're useing a NEC dvdrw, you can booktype your +r/rw media dvdrom making them much more compatable.
Make sure the disk is NTSC and not pal (that is if your stand alone it NTSC) I had this problem once myself and the disk was in pal format. heh
