CMC is amongst the worst discs one can purchase, so sorry to tell you that, but facts are facts.

Use Quality Media; avoid Memorex-CMC, get the good "stuff": Taiyo Yuden, Sony (MIJ), Verbatim, Ricoh or other top name products.

    Best of luck,

    Rich

This is most likely part if not all your problem. CMC Mags are garbage.

A couple other things to do and check is:

    defragment hdd/s
    remove any adware/spyware
make sure nero is updated to latest vs. latest vs of nero6 is 6.6.1.4

What does dvd identifier say about your sony discs? They should either code out as manufactured by sony or yuden. If all else fails you can try using dvd shrink and use dvd decrypter to burn instead of nero. Don't use the cmc mag discs. In dvd shrink after you have clicked backup click on target device then under select backup target select ISO image file and burn with dvd decrypter.

    Best regards,

Ok, you told me to go through DVD Shrink, and burn with Decrypter, I did, and I got an error, unfortunately it wouldn't let me copy the error, and I didn't have time to write it all down like I have been doing. What I got out of the error was that there was a problem with the burner???? If you have any suggestions on what type of burner I should buy, and the model #, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hmm, maybe that poor old litey has seen better days. If I was in the market for a new dvdrw drive I would go with a BenQ DW-1650 or 1655. I don't think the 1650 has hit the market in the US yet but the 1655 is available. Same drives except the 1655 has lightscribe and the 1650 doesn't. This is just my personal prefereance and others might prefer something else. Here's a couple retailers if in the states. http://www.meritline.com/benq-dw1655-lightscribe-16x-dvd-burner.html

Yes that should be it. While looking on ebay you might also look for the 1620 or 1640. Both of those are excellent drives imo. I have the 1620 and really like it.

A couple others I could mention would be the lite-on SOHW-1693S and the sony DRU-800. Some like LG's or NEC's but I have never owned either. I would most likely choose the LG over the NEC. I personally do not like or recommend pioneer drives but some swear by them. The plextor PX-712 or 716's are the cadillacs but they cost about double what other good brand name drives do. What ever you do stay with a brand name drive eg. benq, lite-on, sony, LG, NEC, pioneer, or plextor. There are a lot of after market drives that are rebadges eg. I/O Magic, memorex, HP, matshita/panasonic. I would also stay away from teac's, samsung/toshiba's, and sanyo's.

LightScribe enables drives to burn a silk-screen-like, high-contrast label on the topside of CD or DVD media with a LightScribe dye coating. After completing a data burn, users are prompted to flip the disc over so they can burn a label onto it.

Lightscribe is a process which uses a special disk and an image is etched onto this disk by the laser in your burner. You can buy ls disks and then using a program which should come with your burner, burn a cover image onto the disk.

You can get them retail, Verbatim are the best ones to use. I have the BenQ 1620 and the cover art comes out okay. You can go look over at CDCovers for some art to dl and then use to enscribe your disk
