WELL PIO I AM USING EASY CD CREATOR AND I JUST DONT HAVE THE OPTION TO CREATE A DATA CD...THE FIRST 2 OPTIONS ARE EITHER FORmAT CD OR CAST OUT (EJECT,,, I VE THE DUTCH VERSION)
Sorry I don't have it installed anymore, since it didn't support my Yamaha CRW3200. According to my memories, it's the "new data structure" action in the "file" menu. Make sure the program you're running is called "EasyCD Creator", not "DirectCD". It should have a lot more menus and actions than that.
Ok, I sense some major confusion between most of you guys that you dont realize, and i think i know what's going on, so bear with me. I have recently bought a Plextor CDRW, and it came with Roxio Easy CD creator. I installed it, and it created a shortcut in my START MENU called Easy CD Creator 5 Basic. When i clicked on that, it started something labeled "Easy CD Creator 5 basic. it looks like some kinda GUI, with 4 big blue buttons on the left(make a music CD, make a data CD[you put your mouse on this and you get the directCD option], then make a photo or video CD, and Disc copier) Now, for all those novices out there, eventhough this thing says it's Easy CD Creator 5 basic, it is NOT, i repeat, NOT the Easy CD Creator the old timers here are refering to. The "real" Easy CD Creator (not 5 basic, just Easy CD Creator) is located at START>PROGRAMS>ROXIO EASY CD CREATOR 5 >APPLICATIONS>EASY CD CREATOR or in the Easy CD Creator 5 Basic screen you're accustomed to (the one with the 4 big blue buttons on the left) go to "Make a data CD", then click on "Data CD project" instead of "DirectCD" So, to the newbies, you're seeing a screen that the old timers never saw before nor knew existed, so they were talking bout something that is now called "Data CD project" to you. whereas to the old timers, somehow roxio made some GUI and called it Easy CD creator 5 basic and confused the heck out of everyone, and they have hidden the REAL old school Easy CD Creator somewhere deep and gave it a different name.
Thank you Opchee for the great post! Another problem is that "old timers" do not use Easy CD Creator at all. I personally haven't used it for 4 years. It was the ware bundled with my first drive (HP 7200e) but I quickly found out about better alternatives and stopped using it.
Nero 5 is working just fine for me and myu Lite-On. Then again this is my first CD-RW(yes, I´m not afraid to admit it) and there might be better alternatives.
Ghostdog, Hardly! Nero is the best all-in-one combo available. In my opinion it is THE best for making data compilations.
