re: Brobear and interested party! I remember AVI, I also recall the riff files, the avi's ran under windows (obviously) but I thought that was problematic for DVD players. I did know what .vob files are, and they may or may not have audio in them , and as a standard I will also create an empty audio folder when i create dvd's with only .vob files only because for some odd reason my dvd+RDl's sometimes don't work without these dump empty audio folders, but then again that might be also due to the DL cd brands I was told. So if I have a .vob file, i would throw it into the video_ts directory and burn it to dvd-r, pop it into my dvd player ( a cheap $29 coby) and bingo it works!, if I was hard pressed to get a menu and chapter section I would use nero, sonic creator, click to dvd etc.. to play with it before burning. You can try that with .avi files but you may end up with a selection screen. If I recall correctly i tried and popped a dvd+R into a sony dvd player and it read the avi and gave me a selection screen (this was like 2002) and many of the DVD players have improved even more now! Good luck And thanks for the wikpedia info bear!, hey do you know any good forums on burning DVD+R DL dvd's for playing?
DivX is one of the AVI codecs. I've been using the new ConvertXToDVD (used to be DivXToDVD) from VSO. All you do is select the file to be converted and it puts it in DVD format automatically. It burns as well if the files aren't too large for the target. If overly large (once converted), you can use most any transcoder to fit to the target disc. It's all in the software. You can try a trial of the ConvertXtoDVD, but the trial leaves a logo on the output.
duftopia I've only visited a few threads on DL here at AD. I've never had that much trouble with it, but then I've not done that much either. I've also got the Nero 7 which is supposedly improved over the Nero 6 for burning DL. To hedge my bets, since I have a burner that will do it, I booktype to DVD ROM.
hey guys....me again with more problems.....well i recently got myseld a copy of nerp 7 premium....and it burnt the first 2 dvds no probs.....just when i thought all my problems were over ....bang....error burning disc.....okay now this has happened 3 times.....sometimes it doeasnt even bring up an error message but when i play the dvd....after about an hour or so it frezzess up..........now could this be because of a glitch in the actual movie file ......or would this happen due to that.....or is it somthing else...??????????/???
In your version of the software what is the version number that corresponds to the one in the screenshot below; the circled one with an arrow pointing at it?
where can 8i get the updated version....or can i get updates thru nero.....or do u have a link ....thanx bro-bear
7.0.5.4 is the latest update from Nero. I had to use Clean Tools to remove the remnants of it and go back to the version I have. Here's the link for the 7.0.1.4b. YT is Yahoo Toolbar, there's with and without ("no_yt"). ftp://ftp.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng.exe ftp://ftp.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe With your older version, all you may have to do is load the 7.0.1.4b.
ok i downloaded it..i downloaded the no-yt version....and now in infotool its says i have the same version as u do....but it now says nero 7 demo........is this what it should do? i am more confused than ever....i dont know what to do....should i reinstall preium over the top....or should i leave it??????/??
Use the serial number you had with Premium and add it (and the "Demo" should disappear). Click the flame on the lower right of the StartSmart screen to get to the serial number. I'd use this version to see if it solves the problem before going back to the Premium version.
Try using the Nero Vision 4 first, but if that doesn't work: Just a thought on those converted files you've been using. Once Nero does the conversion, save to the HD instead of burning it. Then take the freeware FixVTS. Open the VIDEO_TS folder you should have and open FixVTS. Drag the VIDEO_TS VOB onto the FixVTS window (or one of the other VOBs if you don't have that one, you should though). Make sure the boxes in FixVTS are unchecked and click Full DVD. The resulting files should be DVD compliant. Cut and paste the FixVTS backup in another folder out of the VIDEO_TS folder before burning. The backup is the files before you processed with FixVTS. You have to have extra space the size of your original files because you're creating a new set the same size.
so u recon use the demo with the update first.....when i enter the premium serial i wont lose the new version will i???? what does premium offer that the demo doesnt....it all looks the same???
hey there bro bear IMMMMMM BACCKKKKKK and with another problem.....ok so thinkgs have been working great for the last coup[le of weeks....i use dvdclone2 to shrink and burn my dvd;'s.....but i have come across a couple of dvd's that when i burn them...thru dvd clone and i play them on a normal dvd player some will have sound for the preveiws and the menu but not the actual movie .....would this be due to the shrinking.....should i just spend the extra cash and get a 8.4 disc......eg...returnb of the king did this and the exorcist????
Personally, I use RB for blockbuster length movies. It's not the media format (I don't know the quality you use), I put "LOTR: Return of the King" on DVD5. I've seen transcoders like DVDClone2 have compression errors, but not losing all sound on the main feature. Without seeing it, I'd be hard pressed to say what your problem is; though I suspect software or an error. Go to http://www.dvd-rb.com and get the free RB and try backing up ROTK again. Use the HC encoder which is a freebie that comes with the RB.
hey, ok i have tried it again with a different version of ROTK but it has dome exactly the same thing...i am currently yryin it thru dvdRB at the moment...but i have remembered somthing.....a few months ago i downloaded ROTK from kazza....the vid quaility was perfect but alais there was no sound.....whne i tryed to play it thru my divx player it brought up a AC-3 codec error...so i downloaded a codec for it and it had sound straight away......could this be another problem.....
Not a regular problem that I'm aware of. If you're encoding a movie with a regular computer system, I wouldn't advise multitasking at the same time, such as surfing. If the factory DVD has sound, you should be able to capture it. What software did you use to rip the DVD files to the HDD for use with RB? A couple of things you said indicate you have a penchant for things free, even regular retail items such as software and movies (downloaded ROTK from Kazaa and have almost the newest version of AnyDVD). That's your business. However, some of the cracked software doesn't always work the way it's supposed to. I'm only mentioning this in case you have some of those "free" programs in use. I'm not saying that's your problem, but not many people have had that much trouble with ROTK. Hope the RB works. But as I asked, what did you rip the files with? Is ROTK the only movie you're having trouble with? Have you tried another since the problem started?
hey u will have to bear with me here im gettin real damn confused....what i did was us rb...i entered the source path and pressed prepare.....iy saved it all to a working folder that i created for it....now it when i press encode it says CCE path not set......i dont know what to do now.......i used anyDVD to take of the encryption
