I just downloaded this Nero 7 Edition program. I have burned two movies which are suppose to be in color. They play in color on my computer, but play in black and white on my dvd player. Not too tech savvy, need help.

What type of files are they?
If they are AVI files make sure you convert them to suite North America (NTSC) or most of the rest of the world (PAL).
The symptoms you describe are PAL format DVD being played on an NTSC player.

Very new to all this tech language. Is converting from AVI file to either NTSC of PAL easy and is so, could you explain the 'how to' process. Thanks.

This is assuming you have to convert DivX files to DVD format, because your standalone DVD player is not DivX certified (else you could play them without conversion)

Put a blank disk in the burner.
Run Nero StartSmart and elect to make a DVD Video.

Click 'More' at the bottom of the window,'Default Video Options' and choose NTSC or PAL.

Now click 'Make DVD' > 'DVD Video' > 'Add Video Files'
Add the file and proceed to the menu step.
Accept the default menu and test the menu with the simulator.
Proceed to the burning step and note any information messages regarding PAL or NTSC.
Before burning, set the burner speed to 4x (it's under 'Set the parameters for burning' 'Recording settings') then burn.

    Good luck!

Thanks. It worked but now the movie skips sporadically. Any answers as to what this solution may be?

Does it skip when you play the DVD in the Standalone DVD player or in the PC player or both?
Many times a marginal DVD will play OK on the PC and choke on the standalone unit.
The burn has to be made at low speed on quality dvd media.
Quality media says 'Made in Japan' on the package or 'Verbatim'.
