I might still be considered new to backing up dvds and stuff but I'v been playing around with it for nearly 2 months now. Heres what happening. When I go to copy the dvd onto my harddrive everything goes fine and works properly. No matter what program I use to rip the dvd and no matter how I rip it, wether I rip the entier disc or just the main movie or just half to movie so I can slip it up on two disc. I go check the file I just riped and everything works fine on it plays fine no problems what so ever. Now here is where things go wrong. Say I use dvd shrink to rip and burn the disk after it gets burned I go to play it and it jump or skips mostly just pixilates the video or some times just won't even play at all. No matter how I burn the file onto the dvd is still does it. I'v tried nero, going in a physicaly burn it though nero or using nero through dvd shrink or even with clone dvd it messes up. Now here is another thing to mess with your hear. It doesn't do it on every disk it appears to be totaly random as to whitch disc burns properly and what disc doesn't.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks
    Gary

I'm burning onto memorex, only kind of dvd and cd media I use. My burner can burn all the way up to 16x on dvd-r I don't burn it that fast I usualy only burn at 8x but do you really think that could be the problem or my choice of media?

this is the problem, they are very low quality disks

U can get better ones for about the same price too, like verbatims when on sale.

    check this out http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/262544
check out the quality score of TYs the best media and CMC which makes memorex

Also memorex is known as Memosux around here

U might need a firmware update? and that might help, but more than likely it is the media

    Yeah,
    Supermediastore.com
    Rima.com
    Meritline.com

i get all mine from Supermediastore

also if u go to frys, u could look for Sony(MIJ), Maxell(MIJ), Fuji(MIJ), MIJ=Made in japan, as these are made by Taiyo Yuden, if they dont say MIJ i wouldn't get them
Also verbatims are very good media too, these are the only ones not made in Japan that are great quality, Made in Taiwan
