I was having a problem with Nero earlier so i decided i would just clean it out and get the same one that y'all had recommened a couple months back ... i know that once it is done transcoding and making menus, it starts burning on the disc.. but now it takes an hour and a half just for the burning..before cleaning and re-downloading it would take about 12 mins.
    what is going on?

    Hi fkcast
That's part of it. Check under 'current transfer mode' too - dma should be listed there too. If pio is listed follow the guide in the link gwen gave.

Ok well under the Advanced Setings tab it says :
    Device 0
    Device type: auto detection
    Transfer mode: DMA if available
Current transfer mode: Ultra DMA mode 5

    Device 1
    Device type: auto detection
    Transfer mode: DMA if available
    Current transfer mode: Not applicable

    Does this help?

Yep it does. From what your posted that looks like the primary ide channel - just your hard drive is connected on this.

So check the secondary ide channel - what does that one say?

Right click on that secondary ide channel then click uninstall & ok. Now reboot and let windows do it's thing.
You should be fine - windows will re detect it and reinstall hopefully correctly in DMA Mode.

It should do the trick for you.

If you're ripping discs and are getting crc/read error windows will step down the dma modes until it reaches the sloooow pio mode.

Keep us posted - good, bad or otherwise :)
