I've been burning dvd movies on my memorex dl4rwid2 with nero for a while now but lateley its been acting up. i've wasted a few discs, its seems to be burning only a portion of the movie. sometimes the disc doesnt even play at all. even with the "simulation" and "verify" checked. i also noticed that on the disc itself that there are different shades of the burned section. did i use up my burners life or is it nero? i still get one good burn but only after i waste about 3. i'm using sony 16x dvd-r media. thanks
Could be the discs or the drive. If you burning higher than 8x take it down to 8x. Firmware up to date? The latest for this drive is JWS6. The drive is actually a LiteOn SOHW-1673S so you could always crossflash the drive to LiteOn's firmware if you're interested but try the Memorex firmware 1st if not up to date.
updated the firmware already but i will try the LiteOn. also tried different speeds but it still messes up. probably will be looking at a replacement drive, any suggestions?
Here's a link for the LiteOn patched firmware - link. You can use the KSOB or KC4B for the SOHW-1693S. Good burners - well LiteOn is good one and Pioneer too.
