Yes, the game is for my computer. I just burned the dvd for my computer by using drag and drop cd+dvd. It burned good, but now it gives me an error message that says "insert correct cd rom." I am burning this game for my friend and i would like the game to work on his computer without any problems. Thanks.

Unfortunately with protected games it isn't as easy as using drag and drop - they're protected to prevent that. For software you need to look at either Alcohol 120% or BlindWrite5. SafeDisc 3.20.022 (the protection that Sims2 uses) on DVD presents a unique problem in that BlindWrite5 can burn to DVD but it can have a hard time with SafeDisc 3.20.022 whereas Alcohol 120% is good at that protection but can't burn to DVD. I don't have that title but if I were to be trying I'd give BW5 a whirl and see where that got me. Another consideration is your hardware. Only a handful of DVD burners have proven to reliably back up PC protections of which your Sony isn't among the ones I know. One of our members, pollushon, has backed up PC games with a Sony DRU-500A so I'll give him a jingle and see if he has any pointers for you.
Hi there agent car, the best help I can give is if your using Alcohol you will be able to make a working image for play in a Virtual Drive just not be able to burn it back to disc. Unfortunately Alcohol does not support burning DVD's yet, but supports Safedisc Protected DVD images. If your doing it for a Friend, get him to download the Alcohol Trial to make the image then he can use freeware Daemon Tools/Script when the trial runs out. As for your burner I am unfamiliar with the DWU and cannot tell you if it would be capable. Just for the record I used a DRU510A for my CD backups (sorry if I misstyped the model Nephilim) I have a 500A also, but in the filing cabinet as it doesnt cut the mustard on Safedisc v3x. If you really badly want it on disc, I would recommend Blindwrite and Blindwrite tweaker, and Nephilims expertise
hi i am new to this forum and recently downloaded sims2 from BT. i downloaded a version that came with 4 easy cd creator image files and one msInfo Document. i burned it and when installing it on the 4th cd at around 81% an error came up taht said "problem occured while trying to transfer a file" and it wont work after that. is there a way to get those missing files or is something else the problem. any help would be much appreciated thanks
Thanks for the tips, but im not very experienced with burning any type of dvd pc games. If by any chance you can describe step by step how to burn the dvd version of the sims 2, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
I assume you mean BitTorrent? Please expect no help from anyone who knows, as we [bold]buy[/bold] our games so as to support the game makers and help them continue to supply us with PC platform titles. If you have purchased it legitamately, please correct me.
If you want to burn the DVD version, you'll need Clone CD, or Blindwrite, which is Nephilims forte. With Alcohol you can image the disc, there is no need for settings as Alcohols default will take over with DVD. But you'll only be able to image it and then play via Virtual Drive. Alcohol is only able to do this with Safedisc protected DVD's.
I already downloaded blindwrite 5, so i make the image on alcohol 120, and then use blindwrite to burn it to a dvd? If so will it work?
Ok for best results got to aray softwares website, and download blindwrite tweaker. I would use Blindwrite to image and write. Now wheres Nephilim?...........NEPHILIM!.........NEPHILIM!
Lol, here I am! Here's the link for BW Tweaker: http://www.aray-software.com/ Under the General Settings tab leave all four selections at the top left unchecked, set the max read speed to 1X, Write Speed DVD to 1X and change nothing else. Under Topology tab for "Writing Topology" select Do Not Write Topology, for "Topology Method" change nothing and for "Read Topology" select Never Extract. Under Advance Settings change nothing. Once all the settings are in order you can click "Run BlindWrite" and it should launch with the new settings. One thing to keep in mind is that BlindWrite5 has a tough time with SafeDisc 3.20.022 - try as I might I never could get it to make a working copy of Doom3 and I've heard I'm not alone - but if I remember correctly there was another user here that was successful with the settings I just listed. I'd recommend using an RW to start off and if those settings don't work try knocking the write speed down to .05X. Good luck
Ok, now it downloaded the tweaker, but everytime i start up it displays a warning saying "Please REBOOT before starting this application!" I rebooted my computer like a million times, but it still doesnt work. I dont know why. Any suggestions?
