    How's it going MaxBurn?

    In query to Nero 7 logs or nero history, I can help cavalieri. Go here: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory -- make sure you copy "the very last section" only. Now EDIT or TAKE OUT your Nero serial key before you're going to post back here.

    Cavalieri, below is an example from a successful burned of mine using Nero 7 Premium. Yours should look identical to mine.

    I had problems with the ten pack Verb discs along with another friend. Went and bought 2 three packs and ended the problem. I had posted asking about anybody having this problem but didn't hear anything till I seen your post. The 10 pack media made noise in the LG burner and the Plextor.

    Hi Alkohol and thanks for the Nero7 path. :)
    @ChrisC586
    Are you saying the 10 pack of Verbs made noise, but a 3 pack of Verbs fixed it? Any manufacturer can have a bad batch of discs, but you usually don't see many problems with Verbatim media. I have an LG drive, and that thing is very quiet. Much quieter in operation than my lite-on drive. It hasn't had any problems burning Verbatim discs: Verb lightscribe, Verb DVD+R 16x rated, Verb DualLayer discs, all burned fine, and made no clicking noises. Just wondering if you might have stumbled on to something here.
    @waterbird
    Your brother might have done something else to your drive to make it click. Who knows what he could have put in to that drive when you were not looking? (are you missing a pet hampster?)I would get a good lock for the door, and have a little heart to heart talk with him. Find something he likes and values, and threaten to mess with that. Might make him back down, or it could lead to all out war. Burning discs can be hard enough when you ar first trying, without someone sabatoging you efforts.

    Not everyone has DL drives, but it would be nice if Waterbird could access another drive to see if a disc from the batch causes the same problem.

    I recently had a drive head south on me. It would burn, but players wouldn't read the DVD due to an improper lead out. There were no problems at all with RWs. The problem is similar to what's happening here, except I didn't get the clicking. I know the disc was written because the PC will play the movies on a burner drive using WinDVD7. The PC reads them as an Audio Disc, but will play the movie. A DVD ROM and the standalones won't recognize the discs and the errors occurred in the lead out. I agree, on this one the drive is suspect, but it's an idea to check the media on a good drive as well.

    I've ben burning everything single and dual layers all Verbatims and no coasters [or noise] except in the 10 pack discs, the last one I had 3 good out of the 10. The outside edges are really rough with Quite a lip on them. I went through 3 more the three packs without a coaster or bad burn. I took the same file same burn out of one three pack it was good and a disc out of the 10 pack gave me a bad burn. I forgot to add my friend has the Lg and I,ve got the Plextor 716 and the NEC 2510 with the up to date firmware and it didn't matter if I used the NEC or the Plextor on the 10 packs got a 50 to 70% bad burn rate. So after the expensive run I;m sticking to the three packs. Happy Holidays. Chris

    And that is probably the problem with those. With rough edges and a "big lip", the discs sound like they're probably running off balance. If a label being off causes problems, you know an improperly balanced laminate layer is going to cause problems. Since you're using the same brand, but a different batch, that sort of confirms it's a problem with a batch run. Who knows how many they made on that "run" off the line? Even a good company isn't immune to a bad run. Looks like they would have caught the problem sooner though, if they even realize there was a problem.

    One last thing I discovered the three packs will play on the Denim and the few good 10 packs won't. Monday I'm gonna get out the mikes andcalipers and see if theres anything there. All three ten packs came from the same retailer in two days time. The only thing after all this that I can come up with is we did get a bad batch of media.

    I will attempt to try the Nero LOG file... I haven't checked my email and now noticed lots of people have posted to help me.

    I appreciate it, and should know in a few whether or not it worked.

    I did have coasters out of the 10-pack batch of HP discs... I think like 7 of them..and one has worked so far.

    We'll see if that NERO Log File Works to help out!

    Thanks!

    After opening up the LOG file this is what I got..I did notice though, I spoke with someone from I/O Magic..They had me update the ASPI layers and also revert back from Firmware of GBIA to GBGA... I now run the Firmware of GBGA..I use Nero 7 to burn DVD's... Which that's what is weird. Some of the coasters, I accessed and it had a Video_TS folder and like a bunch of different things. But technically there should only be a movie file in there? Anyways, this log was from \Program Fiels\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory.txt...Hope you guys can help on here!

    Thanks!

    A long time getting back but after miking the ten pack dual layers they were running 5 to 7 thousandths thicker and 10 to 11 thousandths Inside Diameter to Outside Diameter wider on the ten packs I had. The center holes on both the three pack and ten pack were running the same size.The new set of ten packs I picked up yesterday are miking out to my other three packs within 1 thosandth of an inch and are fine playing on everything.I just got a bad batch of ten packs before.

    @cavalieri -

    - 7.0.1.4b is here - http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-up.php

    - i see you've been experimenting with firmware versions

    - Nero isn't recognising your drive

    - sufficient total memory but no free memory; you need to close down more programs prior to ALL dvd work/burning to free up more memory

    - ugh, those discs are ,well, not good

    you did well to burn successfully there with the above things wrong

    Ok so I did the DMA thing.. and I ripped a dvd using DVD Decrypter..When I go to burn using DVD Decrypter it says "Invalid Field in CDB" and it does not continue... I'm sorry about such the long response, I really appreciate all that is helping... I haven't a clue what is going on though...

    Thanks!

    I am just trying to burn a DVD.. How does NERO not recognize my burner when that's what it was bundled with? I experimented with firmware after calling up I/O Magic and that's what they told me to do... The firmware now is actually GBGA... Anything else anyone needs to know just ask... I need help just burning a succeessful dvd... I burned 5 dvd's when I first got it, work great! Now I can't do it at all.. Is it just the discs? I used Memorex for the first 5 and now I was trying to use HP discs and the dvd decrypter I tried to use compusa 4x dvd-r discs.

    That's the only thing I'm trying are single layer, I just had asked this inside of this thread because I didn't want to start a new thread and it was helpful the people that had answered already.

    Problems with burning DL can be different from DVD5. So, it can confuse those trying to help you if you post your DVD5 problem in a DL thread. I suggest you post your problem in the appropriate thread of start one. You're having some sort of interface problem if your drive isn't being recognized. If working with Nero, I'd suggest a Nero thread. If your OS isn't picking up the drive, then that's a different problem.
