hi well as the subject says, when i have successfully finished burning a dvd, it plays for a while in my laptop but then freezes. however when i put it in my sony dvd stand alone. it works fine. this is really random and has started all of a sudden. i haven't changed my method of burning in any way:

    i am:
using the latest dvdfab (default settings)
using traxdata -r (i know what you guys are thinking, but i have found these dvds to be very reliable)
    burning at recommended speed
dvdfab says i have burnt the dvd successfully but i dont realise the problem until i try and play it in my laptop.

pleeeease can somebody help/ thank you

well you know whats coming next then huh lol. use better media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at a slower rate (6x). run the traxdata dvds though nero "Disc Quality" scan and see what you come up with as far as a quality score(i bet its not that good)also make sure you have the most up to date firmware for the drive in the laptop

ok i basically got it working...i ran the test with a traxdata dvd that i know works in a standalone player and my laptop (the dvd was the borat movie). i ran the test and the results were :

    maximum Pi failures: 98
    quality score: 0 (????)

so what this is really telling me is that the dvd is rubbish. however it still works in all my dvd players and laptop. so what is the point in this test, if rubbsih quality dvds still play? lol, maybe im not getting the wrong end of the stick...but it doesn't seem logical to me

    yeah there first class junk!!!

Heres a good quality scan, using the Taiyo Yuden media i mentioned

you stated in your first post that the dvd playback in the laptop freezes ,THIS IS WHY THE MEDIA IS JUNK, use it if you want but don't aspect good results or them playing back in everything without problems. for the life of me i can't understand why anyone would use crap media when the price of the good stuff (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) is the about the same on sale 23 to 24 cents each!!! SO WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT ALL THIS NOW??? LOL

Perhaps your laptop does not support DVD-Rs....

i am quite certain it is as i have burnt many dvds in minus format. is just seems to be random in which device it plays on, sometimes it only plays in my laptop, sometimes only in my standalone dvd player or sometimes both. really weird

Then, IMO, that points to use of poor quality media....
