Anyone using a PC as a PVR or DVR with a satilite receiver? What's your setup? How is it working? Is it worth it or should I just buy a PVR.

    Thanks

    heck yea!

why pay for Tivo/pvr when you can do it for free (or just the cost of a card and software!)

    hehe..

    anywho..

i'd recommend a tv tuner card (with built in mpeg hardware encoder) and using either SageTV or BeyondTV to run as the frontend PVR software.

I use SageTV and love it!! has intelligent recording, tons of awesome add-ons (great power user/customizing forum too!), program guide, and tons more...

    peace

Or do it for the cost of a card, and free software.
    GB-PVR or Mediaportal.
