hi its says its instailed however the yellow signs still there[/quote]

The only thing i can suggest is that you google "usb to serial adapter driver" and try some different ones. This one is obviously not compatible with your adapter for some reason. You can not get anywhere until you have a compatible driver.

The other option is to find a friend who has a PC or laptop with a 9pin serial port on it, There is no COM ports to set up and no drivers to install (it really is easy Lol), just simply load the firmware using just the Null modem cable eliminating the adapter. Because you have been struggling for so long now i advise you to go this route.

Sorry we did not get there de4 but tried my best.

When you say you are on the next stage, do you mean you have a driver installed?

If so, you need to follow the Vista COM port set up here, to set to COM1, should not have to alter the Baud rate, remember to press OK, and reboot the comp.

Then follow the guide to the letter to load the firmware remembering to switch the box off, before pressing start to load firmware just before switching the box back on, if your USB driver is compatible it should work.

One thing to not is that if you did not get the prolific driver installed and used another one, not all USB to serial drivers work, even though device manager is clean, so you may still have to find another driver. Like i say, if you do still have problems, just find a computer that has a 9pin serial port so you can just use the Null cable
without the USB adapter eliminating setting the COM port up.

Try installing the prolific driver on your new adapter, and then setting the COM port up.
If not find an old computer as mentioned previously.

Get on the phone to everyone you know, locate someone who has a 9pin serial port on there comp, take your box round there house with your Null cable, and latest firmware and loader on a usb stick. Load the firmware, take box back home, connect up,scan channels, done.

O, and make sure it is a NULL cable you are using and not a straight forward RS232 cable, because they are different.
