Hi, if I was to split the signal going into my current cable box, and wire up a second one would it be able to view a diffrent chanells or would it be a clone of the signal recived by the first reciever.

Also how is cable tv transmitted, does every channel get "broadcasted" to the box and it filters everything out except the channel it supposed to be viewing, or does it request a channel to be streamed?

You need two STBs to view different channels, over one feed. Or a twin tuner PVR allows you the capacity to record and view other channels, but that a different story.

Your question should be how it is encrypted rather than how is it transmitted ;)
