Can a Artifacting graphic card cause problems with backups?

I recently got a new gpu and it seems it has artifacts (like random squares and green dots) on video playback on dvd movies and other formats like wmv. i was wondering can this cause my dvd backups to have the green dots and spots? like when it runs threw dvd shrink. Is it possible for the graphic card to mess it up? if not. how?

BTW im RMAing the card back. here my thread other thread about the gpu problems.... with pic of what it does with WMV files.... id love ur feedback to tell me if thats the card being defective? because it doesnt happen in games =/ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/415446

 

Your vid card will have no effect on any backups you make to play in your standalone.
