agp is 2x or more faster than pci. pci runs at 33mhz whereas agp 2x is 66mhz, 4x is 128mhz & 8x is 256mhz. pci/e 16x & agp 8x is about the same

eLiTe23q , you have a budget of around $380 aus, so let's see what goodies we can find you ......

    6600GT http://www.vtechindustries.com.au/p...C3&PHPSESSID=5c7d3f4a282558f690c9d42bc9989bc6

    $213.10

    PSU http://www.vtechindustries.com.au/p...00&PHPSESSID=5c7d3f4a282558f690c9d42bc9989bc6
    $95.50

    Here's a review of the PSU http://www.techniz.co.uk/modules.php?name=Reviews&rop=showcontent&id=123

I have the same 6600GT and can tell you it is a very good card indeed , you will easly get 60+ FPS in CSS ( more like 80+ ) on 40 player server and they o.c really well if you feel the need ..... so for $308.60 aus your getting a nice setup .... hope this helps you out

rugripper before you say what about a 6800GT they are kinda like 3x the price of the 6600GT in aus $615 Vs $213 ;)

@ eLiTe23q, it doesn't matter which brand of graphics card you use , all that matters is that it has the right interface for your mobo i.e AGP,PCI-E or PCI . altough some are better than others...

There's not much real difference in the cards themselfs apart from cooling solutions, the type of memory chip used and on some cards the clockspeeds (some manu's o.c the cards) , but with all that said the only real difference is the price.

@ rugripper the x800 is a 16 pixel pipe 256mb/256 bit card Vs 6600GT 8 pixel pipe 128mb/128 bit card so it's gonna perform better , bit unfair to compare them against each other ..... Lol @ guiennis book of world records ;)

no elite was talking to jonni.that was funnt huh?gb of world records[lol]i thought you were in the usa elite.didnt know you were in austraillia, wish i was,us suxs[lol]i thought the x800 was only 8 pipelines, runs like it only has 8[lol]not a fanboy of ati.nvidia has that color vibrance that makes the colors so rich, and i think the nvidia support like drivers are real good, ati is getting better.how about that new crossfire for ati?hear anything about it?ati is just trying to catch up with nvida[lol]

pretty long post for a video card[lol]

The X800GT is a 8 pipe card but it's in PCI-E & marginly quicker than the 6600GT , the other AGP X800 are 12/16 pipe cards, so a slight amendment to my above post ..... what part of the US you from rug & what part of AUS you from elite ? me i'm from London England :)

It'll cost about $40-50 AUD to get the Power Supply. As far as the card goes, I bought my Radeon 9800Pro 128MB AGP card at around $219 USD, or near $297 AUD, but that was O.E.M. (Original Electronics Manufacturer), which is to say "out-of-box". It could have gone down from now, as I'm sure it did here in the states, but I don't know about in Austrailia.

The card is a pretty good one for F.E.A.R., just a little slow beyond 1024x768, but runs good with games like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3. If you do get this card, I would recommend getting a after-market heatsink and fan, it tends to get very hot when playing these titles.

Well, if you are a serious gamer, I would personally go with the 6600GT. Even though I prefer ATI over NVidia, NVidia has shown to work better on games for longer. I like my card, but it tends to reduce FPS when overworked, and can get very hot. Still, Counterstrike: Source would work better with an ATI if it's the main reason for getting the card. Half-Life 2 and CSS were made with the 9800Pro in mind, so it would work better for those titles.
