    Hi,

I'm trying to burn with NERO and it doesn't let me select a speed over 2x when I use a Verbatim CD-RW Ultra Speed cd with a range of 16x-24x. My burner has a max speed of 40x.

Registered. Let me change my question. Is there a way to burn Ultra Speed CDRWs with a drive w/o the UltraSpeed sticker?

Well, I can't help you much since I've only used nero once, but you should look for a google faq for nero.

i think the reason is that ur using a CD-RW not a CD-R. Also u need to check the writing speed of your burner too. If ur burner can only burn at 2x for Cd-RW, so it don't matter if your media can b burnt at 20x or not, ur burner wont do it.

I can burn regular 4x CD-RWs and I can burn at 40x on regular CD-Rs.

strange at it might seem, some dvdr's or cdr's record the recordable media on certain brands at a set speed. like some of the yamaha dvdrs the firmware in the drive only records certain dvdr discs at 1x and others at the rated speed of 4x. there view is that the media isnt high enough quality.

But verbatim is fairly high quality so I dont know why it doesnt record at a high speed. you might try at least upgrading your cdr drive firmware?

    good luck
