I didn't know anyone cared about special features anymore. The explanation is very easy. Single layer 25Gig releases won't have any space left for supplements or special features especially if they used MPEG2.

Try renting the films released in dual layer 50 Gig discs or the 2-disc sets. Also some 25 Gig releases have good amounts of bonus content. Use the highdefdigest.com reviews as a guide. The reviews tell you what special features are included in the disc and if they are in HD or not:

    ...just to name a few.

Don't worry. Most future releases will be using the dual layer 50 Gig discs and advanced video codecs. VC-1 and AVC/MPEG4 generally require less disc space compared to MPEG2 so you'll have enough for your extra features.

That's the first time I've heard about that. The rentals I've had from Blockbuster and Netflix (both HD DVD and BluRay) are identical to the retail versions with all extras intact.

The reviews on highdefdigest.com list the disc specs and the special features included in the retail version. They're the exact same ones I see in the rental discs that I get from Netflix and Blockbuster.

I've heard of Netflix renting out gray-colored DVD's that lack some extras but this has never happened with BluRay or HD DVD rentals at least for me.

Blockbusters core stores; 250 in NA still carry both formats. Blockbuster online still carries both formats.

The smaller stores, carry both formats, but are only getting new blu-rays.
