    A Couple of Questions

I'm starting to build my new PC. I want to get an AMD Socket 939 Processor, most likely one of the FX's With an ASUS Motherboard. (If anyone has any better suggestions, please feel free to let me know.) My Problem is that I can't find any motherboard that is socket 939 that supports more than PC3200 DRR RAM.

    1. Is there any motherboard that is socket 939 that supports higher than PC3200 DDR RAM?

    2. Is ASUS the best motherboard to go with for a AMD 939 Processor? If not what brand of Motherboard does anyone suggest?

Of course, you may disagree, but I'm not in favour of AMD Processor and would hardly anyone to use it. Just because it is heated more than Intel is. Hence it is less perennial. And about ASUS.... Well... I won't tell you about my experience cause it'll sound not ethic, just say that i do not like ASUS either. To my opinion (although I'm a newbie here but it doesn't mean that I'm a newbie in computer technologies) the best combination is Intel's (extreme edition) processor with Gigabyte motherboard (apropriate socket). with 800 Mhz system bus. I assure that it's enough for the next three years. if you'll add here a good hard drive & ram & good OS (correctly installed & tuned up), you'll enjoy the speeds of your machine... as i do... :)

Thanks, I appreciate it. The main reason I want to go with AMD is because it's a 64 bit CPU, so it will be compatable with the new Windows coming out. Second reason is it is better for gaming.

I accept your explanation. And do agree with your reasoning. Then suppose that Asus is ok. Anyway there are plenty of good favorable reports about it's motherboards. Hence there is a strong case for it. So for gaming purpose it'll be quite perfect. That's my verdict. :)

As I understand it, AMD boards have an FSB of 200mhz, which happen to match AMD processors (I think the CPUs are locked at 200 FSB), so I would have thought that a board with a higher FSB is not really necessary. So getting higher rated RAM or MOBO would not improve the situation much, it would default down to 200, to match the CPU.

    Asus have a good rep.
