I have a movie with burned in subs but they're the wrong language and the movie is hard to find. I found the english subs for it but they appear right on top of the burned in subs.

If I could move the English off to one side I could read it.

    How can that be done?

    Thanks - rev

Assuming you have an AVI video and the new subs are .srt subtitle.
    Load the video in AviDemux.
On the left side set the 'Format' as AVI
    Set 'Video' to mpeg4 XviD
Click 'Filters' and select 'Subtitles' and 'Subtitler'.
    Load the .srt file.
Select a Font (from the Windows> Fonts folder or wherever)
Choose a colour and set the position.
Preview the output and go back to the main screen.
Click File > Save > Save Video and give the new file a name, e.g newfile.avi
