My question here is this is there anyway to record from a HD box using DVI output (or Component) using the firewire port. Is there a cable that will adapt either connection to firewire. I would like to know as the new series of 24 is out soon and it would be cool to record it in HD!!!

I understand that you want to record a HD program from a HD set top box to a device with a firewire input.

Note - You should not convert digital signal (DVI, firewire, HDMI)to analog (component)and vice versa as this will deteriorate performance/quality, (Note- that although component video is used on digital sources-DVD, HDTV - the signal is analog), so look for DVI to Firewire.

Also, although you can record HD i.e. on a DV tape using Sony HD HRC camcoder, if you want to put it on a DVD it will be SD, but I guess you know that :)

    cheers
