I got the same error message when I updated as well and I used the Nero Clean tool to completely remove all Nero files off of my PC. Then reinstalled Nero 6 and everything came out fine. The latest update of Nero 6 has a bug in it that will produce that error message but, thanks to the wonderful folks here at Afterdawn all is well. Thanks for all the help. Unfortunately I am not very computer literate and more often than not I get stuck while doing something for the first time. For example I have uninstalled my Nero OEM (that's what's written on the disc) and downloaded Nero version 6.6.0.18. All was going well while installing it until I got the message asking me for the seriel number. I'm sorry but I don't know where to get it from!!

That was one thing you should have written down before removing Nero. You may be able to find it listed in a burn log if you have an old log. Click on Start, and then click on Search. Look for NeroHistory.txt. When it finds it, double click on the file and open it up. Your serial numbers should be right at the top under your name. If that fails, look for the Nero OEM software, and if on disc, that should have the serial number on it. It may be listed as a CD Key.
