I just tried it. On my XP SP2 system, the same thing happened. I typed msinfo32 into the run box and got that same message.

Then I remembered that there should be a "System Information" item (shortcut) in the Start Menu, Programs, Accessories, System Tools folder. It points to

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe".

It was there OK, so I clicked it, and MSinfo opened up just like normal.

I closed it, and then typed msinfo32 in the Run box and this time it worked. So if you try the start menu route one time, maybe it will come back for the Run box.

I don't know why it did this. I haven't used msinfo32 for months or years, possibly a service pack had affected it?
