I recently bought a Canon HG21 camcorder. I cannot play the dvd's burned on my Samsung dvd player (or any other dvd player in the house). Customer support says my player does not support this format. Do all camcorders burn dvd's in this format? Do I have any options before I return my camcorder?

You do not need to burn in AVCHD format. You can use some authoring software to create a standard DVD. However, you will lose the benefit of recording in HD in the first place.

Can I ask, did the sales person not ask you what equipment you had at home before they sold you this camera. This is something I would always ask my customer when they are considering a new camcorder.
