    hi all
i have an mkv file and i want to convert it to a file that my multimedia player can play,i am using any dvd converter it works ok but the mkv file is a movie and subtitles keep coming out when converted.when i play the movie on the vlc player on my comp.i have the option to leave out the subtitles, is their a converter i can use that will give me that option when converting? pulling my hair out with this one so any ideas would be more than welcome!!

the mkv could be in any of about 10 different formats in the container..

another job for avidemux here.. try loading it and changing the codec.. at the same time outputting a separate subs file.
