cant get site popup to work

    I am trying to set up a small popup window on my website http://www.fitnessaccess.net. Only one page has been completed, "Getting Started", and on that page, I want to link the word FITT to open up a new small sized pop up window. I found some codes on the internet and I put one of the codes in the <head> of the html page I wanted to pop up, and the link <a href> or something I believe in the page I wanted to pop it up from. It was something javascript popup. When I went and tried it, it didn't work. Am I doing something wrong here. Am I supposed to put the popup script on the top (<head>) of the page I want the link to be in, or the <head> of the page which I want to popup. Any and all help is appreciated :)!
