    hi:

I have tried backing up Kill Bill, Syriana and now The Da Vinci Code. It seems that I do not get the (i'll call them subtitles) copied. What I mean is when two people are speaking a language other than English in these movies amongst each other the movie has English subtitles just for those parts so you know what they are saying to each other.

So, I do not want to have English subtitles for every speaking part in the movie. I have tried checking the English subtitle box in shrink on a re-author and that doesn't do it. Is there any software that I can use AND a standard way of doing this to EVERY movie I backup? I usually buy the dvd, backup the main movie and only watch the backup to keep my originals new. When I hear 2 people speaking in a foreign language for a few seconds and I don't know what they are saying to each other I figure there should be subtitles at this part. I put the original in the player and there they are. Any comments are welcome. Regards...

ps... I just backed up House of D and used CLONEDVD2 and checked the English subtitle box and subtitles did appear at the beginning of the movie. Don't know if I got lucky or if this will work with those other movies. I will try this method with Kill Bill etc. but still welcome any comments. Regards...

One of my standalone players sometimes shows subs even though I choose not to. What I did with Da Vinci and House Of Flying Daggers was make some changes using DVDSubEdit. First I made all subs transparency clear. Then saved all modifications. Then I chose to view only forced subpics. I then made all forced subpicts transparency opaque. Then saved all modifications. Now only the forced subpicts show. You can get DVDSubEdit here:
