can't read DVD drive

Hi, I have a Delta 12X DVD drive which used to work fine. It still works fine as a CD-ROM, but refuses to recognize DVD's. I'm fairly sure all the software is in place; what happens is when I go to my computer and click on the drive in which the DVD resides, the computer says the drive can't be read or is inaccesible. Any ideas? IRQ, hardware, etc?
    Thank you.
    J.

Let me reply to myself and then ask another question. I read that if Win98 doesn't recognize the DVD disk, it means it's not a DVD drive or what else? I know it's a DVD drive. Could it mean that A). the drive is faulty? or B). the firmware should be upgraded? If A, then it should fail on CD-ROMs too, right? And if B,
does anyone know where the Delta DVD website is or where I can obtain the latest driver? The only one I know about, delta.com.tw, is down.
