So I was using my external 1TB HDD yesterday and I was installing an application contained on the external HDD to my laptop (Dual-booting Windows XP SP3 & OS X).

In the middle of the installation I got up to take a break and intended to let the application install but my arm hit the USB cable and pulled it out of the HDD. After the drive spun-down I re-plugged it back in and after a minute OS X could see the HDD but didn't show any files. However, it did show ~600GB free, which is correct.

I shut the computer down and booted into Windows today to see what the Windows side says about it. It detects the drive but doesn't show a file size under My Computer. The control panel shows the drive properly and says it is working normally.

Is there a fix for this problem without taking the drive out of the external enclosure?

    Peace

unistall it in device manager & restart windows so it can find new hardware & load it's driver. might have to do that to the usb ports & controllers too.
