I'd just like to simply capture some 10- or 20-second video/audio from one of my favorite movies. I can't even do it with 2 computers, playing the movie on one and outputting the monitor/video signal to a 2nd computer with a capture card (because of Macrovision, I assume). The audio, on the other hand, is easily "caputured."

I see that there are devices like a DVD Video Decoder (MacroVision remover) but it doesn't work with macrovision 2 and it seems like I'm going overboard having to do it with 2 computers/ video output, etc. Is there a simple way?

Thank you in advance for your help.

hmmm... there's many many ways to do this, but one way would be:

    1. rip only the chapter you want to convert via smartripper/dvddecrypter.

    2. load the vob into dvd2avi and save to avi.

    3. mux the avi and wav audio via premiere/virtualdub and save the 10-20 second selection required to a new avi file.

this would give you a very clean copy, and macrovision's completely removed by step 1 and 2.
