Can anyone advise whether this is possible. I am thinking about buying a digital camcorder, and I have heard that you can hook your VHS video upto the Camcorder, then, hook this into the PC (via firewire).
If this is possible, does anyone know whether this is a viable alternative to a capture card or a convertor kit.
I would like to retain the VHS quality.

    Many Thanks,

Yes, it is possible, but not all digital camcorders are capable of doing this. If you are looking to purchase one, make sure it has what is know as a "pass-through" feature.
