cd burner to standalone dvd player

    This may seem like a primitive request , but I would like to know if there is any way of burning off .avi and or mpeg files to play on a Samsung dvd player using my cd burner and if so what's the best software to check-out Need to clear up some hard drive space and that's all i got right now. Thanx kindly
