isopropyl rubbing alcohol............. has oil in it..a poisonous solution of about 70 percent isopropyl or denatured ethyl alcohol, usually containing a perfume oil, used chiefly in massaging. Sometimes rubbing alcohol contains ethanol as well as isopropyl alcohol. When rubbing alcohol does contain significant amounts of ethanol, more poisonous and evil-tasting substances are added so that people won't drink it GET ETHYL ALCOHOL (DENATURED)no oil...and cut it with filtered water.
windex is the best for femoving finger prints and smudges, also if you have a scratched disk, and you want to fix it your self just get a battery opperated disk cleaner, and get some good liquid car polish, and put a little on the buffer head of the disk and turn it on and let it go, will work every time, i know we do this at our video store, but the unit that we have is a lot more powerfull, also cost a whole bunch more, also make sure that you use a good cotton cloth to wipe the disk off with, don't use paper towels, good luck
For years my wife has always our CDs and DVDs with a tiny amount of washing up liquid with water and carefully using a lint free cloth cleaned from the center outwards (never circular). She is a genius at doing it and it works every time, but she must have a secret too 'cos I can never match her efforts.
if you need something to clean the eye that reads the disk, the best one tto use is the one that looks like a cd, but it has little brushes that cleans off the eye, i think one costs like $5.95 at your local walmart or any store like that, it also comes with a deal that will make sure if your suround sound has the speakers in the right order, it is realy cool
